It’s here! The Third
Annual Houston Port Region Coffee Symposium is Tuesday,
November 13, 2007 in Houston. Brought to you by the Economic Alliance
Houston Port Region, the Greater Houston Coffee Association and
the Port of Houston Authority, this year’s ambitious agenda
includes presentations from key international industry leaders and
a new feature we’re calling “Coffee Business: 101”
for those interested in—or just getting started in—the
robust coffee business.
Returning to the Hilton
Americas–Houston Hotel, the symposium will reflect the
region’s rising stature in the global coffee trade and the
powerful overall role of coffee in the area’s economic development.
 |
| Houston’s port was designated as
a green coffee exchange port on the New York Board of
Trade in 2003. Clearly, Houston’s coffee port designation
is the catalyst for tremendous new economic development
and job growth opportunities — everything from roasting,
blending, labeling, packaging, marketing and retailing
to brokering, trading, warehousing, freight forwarding
and transporting. |
|
“Java & Jobs: Creating Economic Stimulus
in the Houston Port Region” includes:
•
a continental breakfast
• morning sessions on a global perspective of the coffee industry
and Houston’s increasing industry influence
• lunch
• afternoon workshops presenting the basics for new and emerging
coffee entrepreneurs
• many opportunities for networking
That evening an optional
dinner provides the opportunity to interact with more than 600
Houston Port region business and industry leaders.
Featured speakers are Robert Nelson of the National
Coffee Association and Luiz Hafers, coffee planter and owner
of Fazenda Jamaica in Brazil. Other distinguished business presenters
include representatives from Brauner International Corporation,
Cadeco Industries and Sara Lee Coffee & Tea Foodservice.
